By car

If approaching the city of Hamburg from the south or west, e.g. Bremen, leave the autobahn at Bremer Kreuz (22) (53) at the 2nd exit and take the A1 (E22) in the direction of Posthausen. Continue left on the A1 and then on the A1 (E22) in the direction of Hamburg-Stillhorn, and continue left on the A255 (B75, B4) in the direction of Hamburg-Centrum. Stay in the right-hand lane on the Amsinckstraße. Turn right onto Klosterwall. Continue straight along the Steintorwall, then Glockengießerwall to Lombardsbrücke and then left into Neuer Jungfernstieg. Left again into Jungfernstieg.

If you are coming from the south, Hannover, leave the autobahn at Mellendorf (52) and continue on the A7 (E45) in the direction of Schwarmstedt. Continue left on the A255 (B75, B4) in the direction of Hamburg-Centrum. Stay in the right-hand lane on the Amsinckstraße. Turn right onto the Klosterwall. Continue straight along the Steintorwall, then Glockengießerwall to Lombardsbrücke and then left into Neuer Jungfernstieg. Left again into Jungfernstieg.

If you're driving into Hamburg from the north, Kiel/Flensburg, leave the autobahn at Hamburg-Stellingen (26) heading for the U46 in the direction of Fuhlsbüttel, Lübeck, Berlin, Elbbrücken, Centrum, Altona, Hagenbecks Tierpark. Turn right onto Kieler Straße. Keep in the left-hand lane on the Elmsbütteler Marktplatz and continue on the Schäferkampsallee. Cross the Schröderstiftstraße and proceed along the An der Verbindungsbahn until you bear right onto Edmund-Siemers-Allee. Proceed along the Alsterglacis, turning right onto Neuer Jungfernstieg and then left onto Jungfernstieg.

If approaching the city from the east (Berlin), take the A24 (E26) in the direction of Fuhlsbüttel, Hamburg-Horn. Leave the roundabout at the second exit in the direction of Sievekingsallee. Continue along the Sievekingsallee and bear left onto the Sievekingdamm. Turn right onto Hammer Landstraße and continue onto Borgfelder Straße. Traversing the Berliner Tordamm, continue along Beim Strohhause. Proceed along Kurt Schumacher Allee and onto the Altmannbrücke. Turn right onto the Steintorwall and continue along An der Kunsthalle, before bearing right onto the Glockengießerwall, over Lombardsbrücke and then left into Neuer Jungfernstieg. Left again into Jungfernstieg
